The annual 4-H Day at the Capitol was held on June 2. This event attracted a total of 1102 4-H members from across the state. The legislators were very impressed with the turnout and provided excellent tours and educational programs to the parish groups. The state 4-H officers were introduced to the Senate and House at the afternoon sessions.

A total of 41 youth from St. Helena were in attendance along with five volunteers. They met with Senator Robert "Rob" Marionneaux and asked questions about the Gulf Coast and Wetlands to get an understanding about the oil spill.
