Louisiana FFA Association and the Department of Education sponsored Career Development Event (FFA Contest) for Area IV

Date: March 27, 2007

Conducted annually at the Southern University A&M College since 1994, this event mirrors the educational and leadership experiences gained by students through high school agriculture programs.

Approximately 1,100 students from 51 high schools in 14 surrounding parishes gather as teams to participate in one of ten judging contests: horticulture and floriculture, general livestock, dairy cattle, poultry, dairy products, electricity, small engines, meats and welding. Awards are presented to top teams.

This event develops student's leadership ability; provide them with the opportunity to visit an 1890 Land Grant Institution and enlighten them on issues that impact agriculture in the state of Louisiana.

On behalf of the Career Development Event coordinators we would like to acknowledge our outstanding faculty and staff who work diligently to make sure this event is successful each year.
