Nineteen small farmers from East Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes received certificates
of completion during the Ag Center’s first graduation ceremony, concluding the Beef Education
Program "From Producing to Packaging."
The participants were required to attend classes the first Wednesday
of every month from September 2004-June 2005. Topics covered during the training sessions
were: Best Management Practices of Beef Cattle, Farm Management and Record keeping,
Understanding Farm Taxes, and Estate Planning.
The knowledge gained is applicable to cattle operations/businesses, and
ultimately impacts economic development in the community.
